Paramount Chief Prof. Dannyboy Pieterse

GIU Honorary Advisor

Paramount Chief Prof. Dannyboy Pieterse is a distinguished leader and founder of Khoisan Security Forces, Khoisan Organisations, and All Nations University, which operate under the umbrella of 12 alliance partner organizations in South Africa. His journey began with his early education at Vergesig Primary School, where he completed his Junior Certificate. He then attended Langeberg Secondary School in Robertson, matriculating in 1989. From a young age, Pieterse demonstrated a strong commitment to community activism, becoming involved in politics in 1985 through school boycotts and community marches, actively fighting for social change until 1990.

After completing his schooling, Pieterse worked as a gardener from January to December 1990. His dedication to service led him to join the South African Airforce in January 1991, where he qualified as a fireman. However, he resigned from the Airforce in October 1991 and worked on a farm in Noree, Robertson, until December 1992. His desire to serve further prompted him to join the army in January 1993, where he qualified as a section leader. Despite his leadership role, he resigned later that year in October. Between 1994 and 1995, Pieterse pursued tertiary education in Marketing Management (N4-N6) through Protea College, now known as Northlink College, equipping him with vital skills in business and management.

Since February 7, 1996, Pieterse has served as a Correctional Officer at Pollsmoor Management, where he has dedicated many years to criminal justice and rehabilitation efforts. During his tenure in correctional services, he maintained an active role in politics. He joined both the African National Congress (ANC) and the Fred Corniston SACP branch as a youth leader, advocating for social justice and community rights. His political engagement deepened when he later aligned with the Independent Democrats, leading to his election as a Councillor for the City of Cape Town. In 2006, he served on the Portfolio Committee of Human Resources, contributing to local governance while still employed by the Department of Correctional Services.

Throughout his career, Paramount Chief Prof. Dannyboy Pieterse has been a passionate advocate for his community, especially representing the interests of the Khoisan people and broader marginalized groups. His leadership in founding various organizations underscores his commitment to cultural preservation, security, and social development. His multifaceted career reflects a deep dedication to service, leadership, and community upliftment, making him a prominent figure in South Africa’s socio-political landscape.
