Dr. Adaka Terfa Ahon

Dr. Adaka T. Ahon lectures in the Department of Special Needs Education, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia). Dr Adaka attended the College of Education, Katsina-Ala where he obtained his Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and proceeded to the Bayero University Kano where he bagged BA(Ed) in Special Education. He also obtained M.Ed and Ph.D (Special Education) both from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In terms of working experience, Adaka served at the FCT College of Education, Zuba-Abuja for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and was later employed by Federal College of Education (Tech), Gombe and later transferred his services to the University of Maiduguri where he taught briefly before joining FULafia.  Adaka has served as a panellist at National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) accreditation of NCE Special Education program at the Colleges of Education, Minna and Gumel as well as the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo and Umaru Waziri Federal Polytechnic, Birin Kebbi. Dr Adaka is currently a Reader and a Consultant on Special Needs of Students at Baze University, Abuja as well as External Examiner to Special Education Department, Universities of Calabar, Jos and Ibadan as well as Ebonyi and Nasarawa State Universities. Dr. Adaka has over 70 scholarly articles published to his credit in reputable national and international journals as well as chapter contributions. He has co-edited several books with seasoned academics. On the civil society front, Dr Adaka is a Board Member, Chartered Institute of Leadership, Education &  Development, USA; Board of Director, CASS Educational Foundation and Chairman, Centre for Faith & Community Development. Dr Adaka is the current HoD, Special Needs Education & Rehabilitation Sciences Department and Deputy Director, Center for Disability Studies, FULafia and a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Leadership, Education and Development (FCILED), USA.
